“The two people in the track’s cover photo are me on the left and my friend Matt on the right. After returning from a very difficult tour in Iraq, I took a trip with Matt, a lifelong friend. He went back home… and two weeks later, he took the decision to end his life and it broke me. That was 20 years ago. This song is about how we are all ‘living ghosts,’ and even though he is gone, he still lives through me—feels through me, and I’ll experience everything for him. And I want to thank him for everything he did. So it’s for anyone we’ve lost, and how we will honor them.”
