A journey through DIY and ethereal sounds

kamikaze —Jessi (vocals, guitar) and Flo (guitar), the duo from Cologne and Düsseldorf— releases “Dreamland”, the first single from their upcoming debut album, scheduled for 2026. They describe their sound as “soft riot pop” —a blend of bittersweet melodies, punk attitude, and DIY ethos. The song captures the tension between dreams that sustain and those that wear us down —summed up in the line: “They kill me inside, they keep me alive.”

The essence of Dreamland •kamikaze

Musically, “Dreamland” unfolds like a late-night confession —jangly guitars shimmering under a veil of reverb, vocals floating between urgency and surrender. Every layer, every frequency, was shaped by the band’s own hands —no studios, no outsiders, just instinct and intention.

The song invites attentive listening, but also surrender: it works equally well on headphones or open speakers, in solitude or in company.

Review by «Indie Valley Music«🌴

“‘Dreamland’ is a dream pop track with influences from post-punk and jangle pop, projecting a fresh indie sound with a distinct identity. The song carries an energetic, melodic, and harmonious character, enriched by a subtle emotional touch and a youthful vibe that captivates from start to finish.

The musical structure feels dynamic and coherent throughout. The vocals flow naturally alongside the instrumental arrangement, creating a remarkable synergy. Technically: balanced frequencies, wide dynamic range, clear and immersive sound.

A DIY production that rivals any professional studio release. kamikaze achieves an ethereal, crisp, immersive sonic quality —worthy of any playback system. This is true indie: passion, self-management, love for music. We’re truly pleased to feature them.”

About kamikaze •Soft Riot Pop

Founded in 2017, kamikaze began as a self-managed project: with no formal musical training, no label, and no agent, Jessi and Flo taught themselves to play, record, mix, and organize shows. Their work includes two sold-out EPs, a live session at Orange ‘Ear, and support slots for The Exbats (2023) and Death Valley Girls (2024).

Their aesthetic features the “killer fan from hell,” a recurring character in their homemade videos —a humorous, self-referential element that reinforces their direct connection with the audience.

Raised in conservative environments, they built kamikaze as their own space: where music is made, not waited for.
