More About Graffick
Graffick is Blaine Counter, an independent electronic music producer and DJ originally from San Francisco, CA, now based in San Diego. His journey with music began in junior high school when he received a free computer and discovered its audio recorder. From that moment, he taught himself production, composition, and sound design, experimenting with loopers, synthesizers, and multiple genres.
In 2015, Blaine survived a near-fatal accident—struck by a semi-truck while riding his bike, suffering multiple fractures and months of rehabilitation, including relearning how to walk. After this life-altering experience, he dedicated himself fully to telling stories through music. He adopted the name Graffick as a nod to his admiration for illustrative art.
Over the past eight years, he has released 3 albums, 4 EPs, and numerous singles. His fourth album, Spectra—recorded in his home studio in San Diego between 2021 and 2023—stands as his boldest work to date: a synth-forward collection that balances atmosphere and melody, focused on uptempo compositions with inventive sound design. The album explores the concept of the many spectrums that shape our existential experience.
Highlights include the ethereal opener “Saw You There Again”, the hypnotic late-night groove of “Black Light”, the evolving structure of “Messages / In the Wake” (which swells from gentle textures into immersive melodic bursts), and “Sushi Rice”, a futuristic electro-pop track glowing with synth-driven energy.
Graffick continues to compose and study music in San Diego, deepening his relationship with sound design and electronic storytelling.
