Today marks the arrival of Distorted Karma, the powerful new album by Forgotten Dream, a band that’s rapidly carving out a name for itself in the realm of alternative rock. Released by Too Loud Records and produced by Riccardo Daga, this twelve-track collection is a bold exploration of emotional rawness, dark revelations, and sonic intensity. Through distorted textures and haunting lyricism, Forgotten Dream presents a modern take on grunge that is both nostalgic and fearlessly contemporary.
A sound rooted in emotion and rebellion
Drawing inspiration from ‘90s icons such as Hole, Smashing Pumpkins, and Veruca Salt, the band doesn’t merely replicate a sound—they channel its spirit, crafting a sonic universe that feels both reverent and innovative. Forgotten Dream’s music is steeped in rebellion and introspection, filtered through a confessional lens that speaks to the complexities of addiction, fractured love, and identity.
The journey of Distorted Karma began in 2021, when vocalist and lyricist Maryanne Muse formed the band alongside guitarist Davo and drummer Dani. Their debut self-released album, Cotton Candy & Pills (2022), introduced listeners to a band experimenting with dreamy psychedelia and raw rock energy. But the real turning point came with the arrival of bassist Ludo at the end of that year. His addition transformed the band’s sound, sharpening its focus and pushing it toward a darker, more cohesive identity.
An immersive sonic experience
With Distorted Karma, Forgotten Dream sheds ethereal layers in favor of heavier distortion, channeling angst and vulnerability into each track. Maryanne’s captivating voice remains the album’s anchor, weaving narratives that explore obsession, disillusionment, and existential yearning.
Lead single and video «Rabbit Hole» encapsulates this evolution with a striking black-and-white aesthetic and a lyrical dive into self-destructive temptations. Other standout tracks include «Cosmic Rock’n’Roll Love» and «Brain Dye», which shift between euphoric escape and harsh emotional reckoning, showcasing the band’s dynamic range.
Indie Valley Music comments:
At Indie Valley Music, we’ve had the pleasure of witnessing Forgotten Dream’s evolution up close—and Distorted Karma is, without a doubt, their most profound and captivating work to date.
«Just a Drop» hit us especially hard. The song builds an immersive atmosphere that’s both melodic and emotionally raw. It feels like falling into a dream you don’t want to wake up from. We were genuinely moved by the voice, the instrumental textures, and the honesty poured into every line. The production is superb, the structure is tight, and the sonic depth is something that stays with you long after it ends.

From the underground to the forefront
Forgotten Dream’s story began in the underground, born from Maryanne’s vision of fusing raw emotion with sonic depth. What started in late 2021 as an experimental trio became a fully realized band with the addition of Ludo. As the chemistry between the four members grew, so did their clarity of purpose.
After dozens of live performances and countless hours of exploration, the band locked in their vision and entered the studio with Riccardo Daga. The result is Distorted Karma, an album that reaffirms Forgotten Dream’s place in the modern alternative scene—a band willing to confront the shadows and find truth through distortion.

Now available on all streaming platforms, Distorted Karma invites listeners to join Forgotten Dream on a cathartic and sonically rich journey through love, loss, and personal transformation.
