A journey where time stands still, and each listener retreats into their own world: no lyrics needed—only instruments that speak for themselves.

Electronic Music From France

French electronic artist Alex Augier releases his new album The Lyrical Age: 10 instrumental tracks, 58 minutes of an immersive, introspective, and deeply conceptual experience.

The title echoes a phrase by Milan Kundera, who associated the “lyrical age” with youth—a time of naive exaltation, sometimes tinged with kitsch. Kundera, son of a great composer, seemed destined for music, yet chose literature, believing it better suited to grasp the concrete nature of existence—far from lyricism, which he saw as music’s very essence.

The Lyrical Age, in counterpoint, fully embraces this lyrical dimension. Like a distant echo of the writer’s words, it sensitively evokes both the beauty and the torments of adolescence.

This fragile age becomes the prism through which the album reflects on our collective transitional moment: a time when reference points falter, everything reshapes, and yet the deepest transformations emerge. In essence, the feeling that humanity itself is living through its own adolescence—made of impulses and excesses, awkward attempts, but also an immense field of possibilities.

The music—entirely instrumental—unfolds a narrative, immersive, and emotional form of electronic sound, alternating suspended, ethereal, introspective moments with more abrasive, high-tension pieces.
It flows with a coherent, dynamic progression: every transition—gentle or bold—serves the emotional arc, crafting a sensory journey that balances intensity and calm, turbulence and serenity, without ever losing its inner harmony.

Each creation seeks to transcend traditional formats, blurring the boundaries between concert and installation through innovative setups and emerging technologies, offering audiences renewed experiences of listening and perception.

Alongside these projects, Augier has maintained a dedicated discographic practice, which has grown increasingly central—culminating in The Lyrical Age, released November 7, 2025, on oqpo Records.

The album extends his explorations into expressive, narrative electronic music, where synthetic textures meet architectured, immersive, and emotional composition. It also marks a return to a more intimate instrumental practice, guided by a desire for direct expression—both accessible and demanding.

The Lyrical Age affirms his vision of the album as an autonomous dramaturgical space, complementary to his live work. Over more than a decade, Augier has continued to create original, ambitious musical and audiovisual forms, while remaining deeply committed to composition in its most essential sense.

The Lyrical Age | Alex Augier | Indie Valley Music Review

The Lyrical Age is not just an album—it’s a sensory experience that awakens perception. Without lyrics, synthesizers become storytellers: each track is a distinct journey, and together, they form a cohesive, evolving emotional arc.

The sound is immersive, ethereal, atmospheric, and introspective—layers of synth weave with intention, inviting the listener to step away from the external world and meet the music from their most authentic place. If the album carries a concept, it does so with such subtlety that it becomes almost therapeutic: it doesn’t impose a narrative, but allows space for each listener to inhabit it with their own emotions, memories, and context.

Synthesizers—absolute protagonists—craft an electronic landscape that is spatial, cinematic, and emotionally resonant. Time seems to suspend. There is no distraction—only presence. And in that stillness, each listener retreats into their own world. That is the album’s quiet power: the instruments don’t accompany—they speak.

The structure is dynamic yet coherent: transitions flow naturally, builds unfold with intention, and moments of tension resolve with purpose. There is a clear narrative—sometimes experimental, always purposeful.

Technically, the production is outstanding: it intelligently balances the weight of the lows, the clarity of the mids, and the openness of the highs, achieving a sound that is clear, deep, and immersive, where every synth layer retains its identity without competing with the others. It doesn’t seek to impress with volume, but with presence—every detail exists to serve the emotion, not to demand attention.

«This is not background music. It’s an album that rewards attentive listening, revealing new layers with each return—some nearly celestial, others raw, all essential.«

For us, it’s a true pleasure to present The Lyrical Age by Alex Augier. We encourage everyone to listen to the album on their favorite streaming platform.
