“‘I told you so’ isn’t blame. It’s the echo of love that saw the storm coming.”

Folk Rock Ballad / Indie Folk from Norway

Ghost of a Soulman, a band based and rooted in Skudeneshavn, Karmøy (Norway), has just released their new EP “I Told You So My Love” —a 4-track, 19-minute work launched on June 19, 2026, across all digital platforms.

Formed by musicians deeply passionate about storytelling and organic arrangements, the band crafts a sonic universe where folk, acoustic rock, soul, and balladry intertwine with intimacy and dynamism. The lyrics—sincere and atmospheric—evoke an authentic sense of nostalgia, free of artifice, close to the heart.

The EP reflects a clear artistic direction: acoustic guitars, melancholic harmonies, and personal narratives at its core. It was recorded and mixed at ABC Studio under the guidance of Stig Morten Sørheim, and released by the label ABC Tunes.

I told you so my love ~ Ghost of a Soulman ~ Indie Valley Music Review

“I Told You So My Love” is a vibrant, emotive fusion that defies easy categorization: folk rock, rock ballad, indie rock, and touches of americana merge into a singular sound, unified by palpable emotionality and a human, reflective nostalgia. Each song invites introspection, connecting with the listener’s most sensitive core.

I Told You So My Love (115 BPM, G major, 4:24)

The opening track immediately immerses the listener in a nostalgic, immersive atmosphere. The acoustic guitar alternates between arpeggios and rhythmic strumming, while the voice—soft and whispered in verses, more energetic in choruses—sits just above the instrumentation without overpowering it. A piano adds layers of americana texture; the bass, deep and elegant, anchors the track with solidity.

The drums are organic and creamy, spanning a wide dynamic range, occasionally accompanied by warm percussive elements reminiscent of congas. A masterful guitar solo elevates the intensity at precisely the right moment, crowning a production where nothing is missing, nothing is excessive.

Lyrically, the song explores the frustration of watching a loved one repeat the same mistakes: “I told you so” is not accusation, but loving resignation—a wish for change in the face of helplessness.

Still on Your Wheel (129 BPM, D major, 4:59)

Here, the band embraces a stronger rock ballad identity, with hints of glam and hard rock, while preserving its reflective core. It opens with an atmospheric keyboard, followed by acoustic and electric guitars. The voice—gentle yet present—guides a narrative that builds into a masterful crescendo.

An instrumental interlude leads to an emotional climax, where voice and instruments share the spotlight. The arrangements—guitar, keyboards, minimalist bass—flow with absolute harmony and synergy, radiating an emotionality that speaks directly to the soul.

The lyrics depict emotional stagnation: “bored in the sun” and “soldiers who never got home” evoke inner battles and unresolved grief, capturing the complexity of love after loss.

Waste of Time (120 BPM, D minor, 5:15)

An eclectic piece that begins with a celestial keyboard and an energetic bassline influenced by post-punk and alternative rock—with subtle echoes of U2’s atmospheric sound, though distinctly original. Arpeggiated guitars and a reverberant, well-panned voice then steer the song toward indie folk and americana.

It’s a bold, balanced, and exquisite fusion, where every transition breathes intention.

Lyrically, it portrays unrequited love: desperate efforts to win a distant heart, unanswered questions, and the pain of uncertainty.

Angel of Light (129 BPM, D major)

The EP closes with an acoustic rock-pop ballad, ethereal and deeply moving. Textured guitars, atmospheric keyboards, and a glam-style electric guitar solo heighten the sense of nostalgia. The bass—minimalist yet profound; the drums—soft or assertive depending on the emotion; and the voice—intimate and whispery—complete an immersive soundscape.

The lyrics confront betrayal disguised as sweetness: “honey and salt” symbolizes a relationship that promised light but delivered shadow. The “angel of light” reveals their falseness, and the narrator embarks on a path of resilience and self-awareness.

Production and Sound

The EP shines through its meticulous, detail-oriented production. The mixing and mastering achieve a professional standard, high quality, and competitiveness within the music industry: a sound that is crisp, deep, comforting, with wide dynamic range—ideal for listening on any playback system.
