“An album meant to be heard with the ears, the mind, and the heart.”
Indie Rock From Berlin
Although the album “New Purple” was released on June 21, 2025, we’re proud to present it today at Indie Valley Music as an essential listen for discerning fans of indie rock with soul, poetic lyrics, and organic sound design.
Acuario Cósmico, a Berlin-based indie rock band, delivers in this sophomore record—12 tracks spanning 40 minutes—a distinctive fusion they describe as “Indie Psych Surf”: a vibrant blend of psychedelic rock, surf rock, and indie sensibility, enriched with a deeply inspiring lyrical narrative.
In the words of frontman Gonzalo ‘Gong’ Marinucci:
“This album had to happen. It marks a new chapter—for me personally, and for us as a band. It’s a clear commitment to what connects and drives us.”
He adds with conviction:
“It’s a love letter to live, human-made music. Music with soul. Played with real instruments, by real people—full of dynamics, melody, and resonance you can feel. Wood, strings, analog pickups—true vibrations and frequencies that carry emotion.”
More than a collection of songs, “New Purple” is a cohesive work designed to be experienced from start to finish—even in reverse—born from a period of intentional pause, deep reflection, and personal transformation shaped by the pandemic. In a world that often feels artificial, Acuario Cósmico stands as an authentic musical counterpoint, offering warmth, connection, and emotional truth.

More About Acuario Cósmico
Acuario Cósmico was formed in Buenos Aires in 2008, after five years of exploring surf rock in Argentina’s underground scene. Since 2012, the band has been based in Berlin, where they’ve fused the raw energy of South American indie with the sophistication of the European soundscape.
The trio consists of:
- Gonzalo ‘Gong’ Marinucci (vocals, guitar)
- Michael ‘Mörk’ Merkt (bass)
- Jonathan ‘Jo’ Boudevin (drums)
Their sound drifts between spring reverb textures, nostalgic melodies, and emotionally charged arrangements. Songs are written in English, Spanish, and German, though the band aspires to transcend verbal language altogether: “We want to shift toward an instrumental and resilient form of expression.”
Following their debut album and standout performances at festivals like SUSI Sommerfest in Freiburg and OBOA Festival in Brandenburg, “New Purple” solidifies their identity: organic music, rich in meaning, crafted with real instruments and human spirit.

New Purple • Acuario Cósmico • Indie Valley Music Review
“New Purple” by Acuario Cósmico is, without a doubt, a vibrant, energetic, and deeply reflective sonic journey—a liberating record that invites us to reconnect with what truly matters: the present moment, authentic human bonds, and emotional honesty.
With vintage tones, compelling surf rock energy, and the immersive atmosphere of psychedelia, each of its twelve tracks becomes a unique, cathartic, inspiring, and genuine experience. This is music with soul: honest, poetic, and layered with metaphors that explore everyday life through an existential lens. It’s not just sound—it’s a sensory and emotional experience that demands attention, inviting listeners to engage not only with their ears, but with their minds and hearts.
Every song carries a clear human purpose: to connect, heal, love, and celebrate through music, grounding us in what’s truly authentic. The lyrics—rich, carefully crafted, and symbolic—challenge the listener to decode each line, reflect, and feel.
While the meaning of music can be subjective depending on the listener’s perspective, at Indie Valley Music we’ve chosen to share our interpretation of two tracks we consider central to the album’s narrative:
“Thank You” opens with immediate energy, where surf rock takes over from the first chord, infused with punk and garage undertones. The structure is dynamic and versatile: guitars drenched in 60s-style reverb—possibly enhanced with chorus or rotary effects—create a nostalgic yet fresh texture. The drums are modern and energetic, spanning the full dynamic range to create spaciousness without clutter, while the bass delivers a clean, dynamic, and rock-solid foundation. Lyrically, the song explores personal rediscovery and the subtle, transformative power of love. The narrator reflects on a past loss, only to find clarity and belonging through a new, tender connection. Images of butterflies and fairies convey lightness, wonder, and the thrill of a budding relationship, all wrapped in an optimistic and deeply reflective tone.
“Mariposa Limón”, in contrast, leans into alternative rock through its intense emotional weight, while never abandoning its surf rock roots, even brushing against post-punk in its atmospheric depth. Its structure remains equally dynamic, with lyrics dense in metaphor and poetry. The vocal delivery, phrasing, and lyrical content elevate the song’s essence and message. Thematically, it delves into longing, loss, and the lingering impact of a past relationship. The narrator recounts a transformative encounter in a forest, journeying through landscapes that symbolize emotional states: trees, waves, and fire as metaphors for healing and the intensity of past intimacy. There’s vulnerability, a struggle with anxiety, and a bittersweet hope for reconciliation.
From a production standpoint, “New Purple” is masterful: it captures the rawness of a live session, with the warmth of real instruments—wood, strings, analog electronics—yet maintains a high-fidelity standard. The mastering honors the original recordings, while the mix adds depth and highlights every detail. Frequency balance is expertly handled, resulting in an excellent dynamic range and sonic spectrum: deep, ethereal, and immersive. Listening to the full album feels like being inside an intimate live session—authentic, faithful, and refreshingly free of unnecessary artifice.
It’s a pleasure for us to present “New Purple” by Acuario Cósmico—an album that deserves to be heard, felt, and shared.
